Name: Tachiki Noriko
Age: 17
Height: About 155 cm
Medical Info: Noriko is a typical high school girl, in just about every way and that includes medical things too. The only thing is that when she's been under stress, and something has finished and she is relieved... she will fall asleep. ETA: She also has a tendancy to get fevers and stuff like that, probably from over-exerting herself more than anything else. This is not explained, but she is an "ordinary girl" and likely it's just an excuse for Izark to be all like. Motherly or something. I DON'T KNOW. (Also, she was hurt fairly badly at the end of Vol 5 and while she is mostly better, she still is a little fragile.)
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Light Brown
Physical traits: There's really nothing here either. :( "Typical high school girl"
What's Okay To Mention Around Him/Her: Just about anything! Don't spoil the end of the series for me OMG SHUT UP I KNOW. I would also ask that you talk to me before going OMG UR SPEEKIN JAPANESE to her. I'm not saying don't tell her where she is, but... she may avoid asking directly. I want to buffer the whole "You're back in your world now" thing from her for a while.
Abilities: Sometimes, Noriko seems to have incredible reserves of strength, but I think that's just... her. Also the whole Awakening thing and the ability to turn Izark back to normal with the power of love!!! or something like that. (WILL IT COME UP? Somehow... I don't know) Otherwise, she is normal, except for the ----
Notes for the Psychics: Noriko has telepathic powers with Izark only. Depending on the situation, they can see each other too. Other than that, when seers try to see things about Noriko in canon, they see swirling colors and can't actually tell. This may apply to psychics too, but maybe you should talk to me about that if it comes up! ETA: this doesn't really belong here, but there's no better place - due to her bond with Izark, she is able to tell if he's around. She may not know where, but the ability to tell that he is near and far is there.
Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc?: I have no problem with most of this, just check in with me! Especially re: shapeshifting/bodyswap.
Hugging/kissing/other non-violent physical contact: I love it all, do me do me. Again, just ping me to confirm.
Maim/Murder/Death: Dying is bad :( Injuries are okay with me, but again, just ask!
Cooking: YES
ETA: Please read my essay on language as it's significant to this character! Thank you~

I am like. so close to dropping Noriko it isn't funny.
If someone has something they'd like to do with her, let me know. I am about to flip out and do rash things. A++

Okay, this probably should be stickied at the top of my journal, but I'll deal with that later.
As I mentioned in my previous entry, Noriko spends most of her time in canon speaking what I will call Izarkspeak, which is the language of that country. That said, if she is talking to you, it will be in that language. Typed or not, but mainly right now, I'm referring to spoken and I don't know if I want to deal with typed-ness right now aaaugh.
Please do note, that when Noriko is speaking this, she is still not ENTIRELY fluent in it. So I am attempting to make her sound a little... maybe awkward is a good word. She's not at as high a level as Izark is, and I hope that shows. That said. She will be learning as she goes along, and I do imagine she will get better over time, but really, she should sound a little strange and stilted when she talks. So... if she sounds too smart, or she seems like she's talking at too high a level, PLEASE TELL ME and I will fix. It's kind of hard to do, ahaha. Anyway, so sometimes she may look at your character curiously about a word, or something like that. She also does some mispronunciations, and I'll do my best to keep incorporating that.
If there is a large block of italicised text, that is Noriko speaking in Japanese. If your character might notice the shift in language, despite the camp translator, then do it - although I ask that you talk to me before going OMG UR SPEEKIN JAPANESE. Probably what will be noticed is more that she is more fluent and knowledgeable when she's talking in italics (though not necessarily any more coherent) rather than the language being evident. Noriko is Japanese, so in her native tongue, she does know more words, more sentence structure, etc. But because of how and when she uses Japanese, she is kind of rambly and off on a tangent most of those times.
Last but not least (unless I forgot something else), Noriko has telepathy with Izark, which is only between them. This is denoted //like this.// I know that we do have telepaths in camp, but in canon, this is specifically said to be between Izark and Noriko ONLY, and sometimes they can see each other while they are communicating. That said, if, for some reason, you think your character could hear them talking, please discuss it with me and/or Izark first. (I DIDN'T TALK TO IZARK ABOUT THIS PART but I think Izark should be involved here, ttly.)
ETA - there are edits in the body of this text but I KNEW I FORGOT SOMETHING
Noriko has been away from her home for a while now. She disappeared and like. I think everyone thinks she died in an explosion. That said. If she realizes that people are speaking Japanese and that she's back in her world, or a world like her own where Japan exists, well. I'd like to delay that for a little bit. |D
All that to say - when people are talking to her, all Japanese style names will go to [first name] [last name], and all suffixes will be dropped once it filters through to her.

Okay, briefly. This is more for my clarification than anything else... I mentioned this in my app, but Noriko is from Japan. This would be unremarkable except that when she gets to Izarkland... it's not the same language. She makes a point of learning it. Which does mean that she parrots a lot of things until she gets the hang of what words mean.
The real issue here is that... camp has a universal translator. Also, what I've seen of Noriko and how she interacts with people in Japan in Japanese is very limited. Vol 1 has maybe like 5 pages or something. That said, in canon, she also goes back and forth between Izark's language and Japanese, depending on how flustered she is.
I decided that in camp, Noriko is talking Izark's language. She will not really... realize that anyone is speaking Japanese to her or whatever. This will probably let me do a little bit of language weirdness so. I think it's probably for the best. That said, everyone is free to understand her when she switches back to Japanese, but really... because of the translator issues, I WILL ASSUME THAT EVERYONE CAN, because... it's camp. It'll be weird for her, but she'll get used to it. It also prevents me from having to worry about honorifics, :|
If anyone has any suggestions or comments, please feel free. As she hasn't commented anywhere ICly, there is STILL TIME
ETA - OKAY IT IS DECIDED. Noriko speaks Izarkspeak in camp. When she does go on her Japanese tirades, they will be in italics, BUT I fully expect everyone to be able to understand, as this is camp. If your character would notice she is switching languages, that is fine to comment on and all that, or if you think your character would bring it up, it is okay!
Second: Telepathy with Izark goes //like this, dudes.// (this one is for my info, mostly.))
